You notice that the topic is a plural.  I was hopin for at least 2 RB's in this class but it may not happen. Don't get me wrong....Kyle Hammonds should be a decent back and may get some pt this coming year.

The bottom line is that we were thin at RB last year and we lose Vince Davidson. With Hammonds and transfer Beau Blankenship we do add 2 so that's a small step forward.....Blankenship hopefully can contribute:

Blankenship will contribute..he could start is the word im hearing from the players. He runs like he is a big ten backup rb which isnt bad...they said the starting defense ..Hodge and Marcellius had to tell him to lay back a little bit at times last year because they had a game on Saturday.

For those with nothing better to do the first 2 1/2 minutes of this video is about this Okie Duo.  Did this guy say "Don Knottingham?" With 4.47 speed?  Look out!  Cannot wait till a Miami DB has to stop OUr version of the Human Bowling Ball and he wonders whether it is worth trying to  bring him down the next time!

Scout had him as a 3 star.

And from an online thread in cyberland--Written by Justin Harper a staff writer--perhaps for a Norman OK paper:

Non-Division I-A schools even lower rung DIs can save the stamp. Alabama has already brought Blankenship to Tuscaloosa for a visit. Kansas is next on his travel itinerary, and Texas A&M won't be far behind.

Because of Blankenship's noted strength (555-pound squat, 370 bench press) as well as his height (5-foot-9) and weight (205), there once was a notion that he was essentially a fullback playing tailback. Newspaper descriptions had him labeled as a human bowling ball, battering ram, etc.

The big problem with all that is this: Blankenship is a speed guy.

"He's 200 pounds, but he's a sprinter, Manning said. "He does run with power, and he's strong enough to carry it 50 times a game, but when we line up and run 40s, he's our fastest guy.

"For a defense, there's no good matchup for Beau.

GO OHIO!

Doc - I love ya bro but I can't agree a 5'9" 177 lb running back will be an impact?

I hope I am wrong.

I am sure he will have a nice career once he bulks up.

Blankenship looks like Maurice Jones-Drew in these videos.  He has the potential to be a star in this league.

..and how about a 5'6" 157 lb fullback? Could one of those have an impact?

Thanks for the love DC....let me clarify my position on Hammonds.

I'm not a betting man (would be if I had some cash) but if I was I'd bet that Hammonds is redshirted.  It might be that he plays next year due to injuries and/or suspensions/dismissals etc. etc.

Even if he plays next year he may be relegated to a role situation like special teams and third down passing situations....as you pointed out he's a tad light now to play every down.....but if he does play next year the backs may be used like this:

Starter/All-Purpose: Harden and Blankenship

Short Yardage: Boykin

Third Down/Passing: Hammonds

Mop Up:  Brown and maybe a walk-on

Hell Ernie and Marcellius would tell him that so they could take a break during practice ;)
