I don't think we are that high nationally but beating out BCS schools for players is becoming a regularity. We aren't landing blue chippers but often 3 stars and ocassionally a 4 star guy (B. Jackson, Lechner). I see us beating Toledo and Miami regularly for recruits too, two of the better MAC schools. The best MAC level recruits are starting to come to the best program. The coaching continuity and the shift in cluture away from a FCS type philosophy of cutting every corner and only taking in-state players like it was early in the Grobe years has helped. You have to keep in mind that the average recruit was something like 2 years old when Grobe started coaching at Ohio and like 12 when Frank was hired. They don't remember the dark days of Ohio football like many on this board.
One last thing to keep in mind, Landon Cohen (7th Round 2008), Mike Mitchell (2nd Round 2009), and Taylor Price (3rd Round 2010), were all 2-star Bobcat commits according to Rivals. This coaching staff does a great job of finding and developing underrated talent. P.S. Hopefully that state of the art indoor practice facility that's on the way will help Ohio close the deal on some more talented recruits by the time February 3 (Official Signing Day) roles around.
